It reminds me of how in RPG games (DIABLO 2 came to mind), you can "CRAFT" unique items.

However, you could only craft really good items, with extremely rare parts.

Back to reality. So to make amazing new chemicals and discoveries, you need these rare chemicals/pieces.
Unfortunately, you can't just go walking around your house, grab 27 different items, throw them into a dryer, and create "Unobtainium".

And this makes me angry, lol.
